What the new moon in Scorpio means
The Scorpio new moon is read as a dark and private one, which suits the sign: both lights in the territory of depth, secrecy and transformation. Traditionally it is a moment to name what you want to end, to look at shared resources, or to begin research that goes below the surface. Tarot spreads for this lunation are popular for that reason.
Scorpio is a fixed water sign ruled by Pluto, and its dates run October 23 – November 21. At the new moon the Sun is in Scorpio too. Read the Scorpio sign profile.
Questions to sit with
Not instructions and not predictions. These are the sort of questions people use this lunation to ask themselves.
- What am I ready to stop doing, owning or pretending?
- What do I want to understand about myself that I keep circling?
- Whom do I trust enough to be honest with, and about what?
Frequently asked questions
When is the new moon in Scorpio?
2026: 9 Nov 2026; 2027: 29 Oct 2027 (UTC).
What is a good intention for the Scorpio new moon?
The tradition favours intentions about depth rather than speed: ending a habit, repairing trust, learning something difficult. Write it in one sentence and treat it as a note to yourself, not a spell.
Why is the Scorpio new moon connected to Halloween?
Both fall while the Sun is in Scorpio, from late October to late November. The overlap is the calendar's, not the Moon's, but it is why dark-moon rituals and remembrance of ancestors attach to this lunation.
Is a Scorpio new moon darker than the others?
Every new moon is dark, because the Moon sits between us and the Sun with its lit side facing away. Scorpio's reputation for darkness is a figure of speech for the sign of the hidden.
