How do you recharge your Crystals and Decks?
✨ Before every reading, I come back here ✨ This little ritual isn’t just for the aesthetic. It’s how I tune in. I cleanse my cards, set my intention, and ask for clear, honest messages that are meant for you. Rose quartz for a soft heart, selenite to keep everything clear, the evil eye for protection, and shells from the sea because that’s where my soul feels at home. 🐚 Every reading starts with a clean slate, because you deserve guidance that’s clear and true.

Why I recharge my tools before every reading
Before every reading, I come back to the same little corner of my table. It isn't just for the aesthetic. It's how I tune in. Cards get handled, shuffled and carried around, and they pick up whatever energy was in the room. Crystals sit out in the open all day too. If I skip this step, my readings start to feel muddy, like I'm reading through a foggy window. So I treat cleansing as part of the reading itself, not something extra.
You don't need a fancy setup for this. Here's what I actually do, step by step, and how you can try it with whatever you already have at home.
How I cleanse my tarot deck
My deck gets the most attention because it does the most work. These are the methods I keep coming back to:
Knock and shuffle. I hold the deck, knock on it three times, and shuffle slowly while I breathe. It takes a minute and I do it between every client.
Put it back in order. Once a week I lay the cards out and sort them, Major Arcana first, then each suit from Ace to King. It feels like resetting the deck to zero.
Rest it on selenite. After a heavy reading, I leave the deck on my selenite slab overnight.
Morning light and sea air. Living in Panglao, I sometimes set my deck by the window early in the day. Only for a short while, though, because strong sun fades the card stock.
If a deck still feels off after all that, I give it a break and read with another one for a few days. Sometimes they just need a rest, same as us.
How I recharge my crystals
Each stone on my table has its own job, so I care for each one a little differently.
Rose quartz, for a soft heart. I keep it out of direct sun since it can fade. A quick rinse in water, then it charges under the full moon.
Selenite, to keep everything clear. Never put selenite in water, it gets damaged. A lot of readers believe it doesn't need cleansing at all, which is why I use it to rest my other stones and my deck.
Evil eye, for protection. I wipe it down, pass it through a bit of incense smoke, and set it back at the edge of my table facing the door.
Shells from the sea, because that's where my soul feels at home. I rinse them in salt water from the shore and let them dry in the sun.
One simple rule: if you're not sure a stone is safe in water or salt, skip it and use smoke, sound or moonlight instead. Softer stones like selenite, calcite and malachite don't do well when they get wet.
Setting an intention before I read
Cleansing clears things out. Intention gives the space a direction. Once my tools are ready, I light a candle, hold the deck to my chest, and say something simple like "Show me what this person needs to hear, clearly and honestly." Some days I write it down. Your words don't have to be poetic. They just need to mean something to you.
This is also when I let go of my own day. Whatever happened before the reading stays outside the circle, so the messages that come through are meant for you and not colored by my mood.
How often should you cleanse?
There's no strict rule, but this is the rhythm that works for me:
A quick knock and shuffle between every reading
A deeper cleanse once a week
A full moon recharge for crystals once a month
An extra cleanse after any emotionally heavy session
Pay attention to how your tools feel in your hands. If the cards keep coming out confusing, or a crystal feels dull and cold to hold, that's usually your cue.
A small ritual you can try tonight
Clear a small space and wipe it down.
Light a candle or a stick of incense.
Hold your deck or a crystal and take three slow breaths.
Say one sentence about what you want this tool to help you with.
Leave it to rest by a window overnight.
That's all. Ten minutes, and you'll feel the difference the next time you sit down to read.
Before you go
Every reading at my table starts with a clean slate, because you deserve clear, true guidance. I'm a certified tarot reader reading from the shores of Panglao, and if something has been weighing on your heart (love, no contact, career, or just life in general), my table is ready for you, wherever you are in the world.
Tarot is guidance, not a final verdict. You're still the one holding the pen.
