Fifth in the Great Race, the Dragon arrived late because it had stopped to make rain for a drought-stricken village and then to lift the Rabbit's raft ashore. That is the whole character in one story: enormous capability, spent on impulse, with no interest in coming first for its own sake. Dragons operate at scale or not at all. They are poor at small talk, incremental steps and anything that requires them to be one of several equals.
